Signs of autism may surface as early as when a child is 14 to 18 weeks old. By commencing early intensive behavioral intervention (EIBI) therapy, many of the symptoms may be considerably reduced. It also helps child with ASD to develop the cognitive and social skills appropriate to their age. If you’re worried that your child may be experiencing behavioral difficulties, contact Journey ABA for our applied behavioral analysis programs.
EIBI therapy can also prevent children from developing challenging behaviors later on. It even prepares them for other environments, such as school. If you’re looking for an early intensive behavioral intervention program in Massachusetts or Florida, contact us at 844.222.4513 to learn more.
What Is Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI)?
EIBI therapy is based on the principles of applied behavioral analysis (ABA) therapy and is aimed at very young children. It targets different skill deficits and behavioral patterns, helping children learn vital social and play skills. It also improves communication and reduces disruptive behavior.
EIBI therapy is more intensive than other forms of therapy, lasting 20 to 40 hours per week. We advise parents to commence treatment as early as possible, such as when the child is three or four years old. The child participates in one-on-one sessions with the therapist, although we closely involve the parents in planning each session.
The treatment may last for two years or more before the child transitions to a different treatment program.
Why We Offer EIBI therapy
EIBI therapy has been scientifically proven to help children with autism spectrum disorder cope with their symptoms and successfully navigate life’s challenges.
Early intensive behavioral intervention has several unique benefits, such as the following:
- Since children have more neuroplasticity, they can learn new skills faster.
- Disruptive/dangerous behaviors are easier to correct while the child is still young.
- It improves the child’s intelligence, language and communication skills.
- The child becomes more confident and can easily adjust to new situations and environments.
During EIBI therapy, we closely monitor each child’s progress and may suggest changes to the treatment plan as necessary.
Our Treatment Program
At Journey Autism & Behavioral Care Centers, we offer evidence-based ABA therapy to children, adolescents, and adults with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Our treatment program is usually a two-way process. We believe that autism isn’t a disease that needs to be cured. Rather, those on the spectrum may need help, empathy, and guidance in managing their symptoms.
At the same time, individuals with autism and other IDDs can face stigma from others in society. So, we closely work with each client’s family and caregivers to clear any misconceptions and train them to provide active and empathetic support. We even provide ongoing professional development and training for our clinical staff.
Our programs and services include:
- ABA therapy programs
- Applied behavior analysis (ABA)
- Behavioral intervention (including EIBI therapy)
- Family training
- Discrete trial teaching (DTT)
Since every client is unique, we meticulously tailor our treatment programs as per their case history and specific needs.
